Veterinarian, Primary Care - Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University

Work type: Regular Full-Time
Location: Glassboro, New Jersey
Categories: School of Veterinary Medicine

Position Summary:

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University is seeking Primary Care veterinarians to join our program as part of our new veterinary program and teaching hospital. Selected candidates will be integral in developing the companion animal Primary Care service.  Primary Care will be located within our new Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, currently under construction in Mullica Hill, NJ.

The service is designed to operate as an independent, self-sufficient unit of the hospital and to provide students with general practice experience like that they would encounter post-graduation as part of the workforce.   The selected candidates will provide comprehensive primary care veterinary services to small animal patients within the service, as well be directly responsible for teaching and evaluation of students in the clinical setting.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated expertise in small animal practice through a minimum (5) years of relevant practice experience and/or related board-certification.  Practice management skills such as a working knowledge of the administrative operation of small animal practices and ability to effectively manage support staff are necessary.  There are no after-hours emergency duties associated with this position; after-hours cases will be referred to our Emergency/Critical Care department.

The successful candidate(s) will advance the academic mission of the School through their contributions to clinical service and instruction of DVM students, veterinary technology students, and house officers on Primary Care rotations. These positions are Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, or Clinical Associate Professor roles (rank commensurate with experience).

While research and classroom instruction are not an integral component of clinical track roles, we welcome candidates interested in contributing to the research and didactic teaching mission of the institution.  Participation in clinical skills teaching of DVM students during their pre-clinical years is expected of clinicians on all services.

Required Qualifications:

  • DVM or equivalent degree.

  • Minimum of five (5+) years of companion animal practice experience.

  • Demonstrated experience teaching veterinary students in a clinical setting, strongly preferred.

  • Currently licensed in or eligible for licensure in NJ.

  • NJ CDS permit or obtained upon hire.

  • DEA registration or obtained upon hire.

  • NJ USDA Level II Accreditation or completion of required training upon hire.

The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
